Informal Ethereum Foundation Vote Ends with 99% Approval for Danny Ryan Leadership

An informal vote conducted by the Ethereum Foundation has concluded with overwhelming support for Danny Ryan to assume a leadership role. The vote, which ended on January 30, saw participation from 341 wallets holding a total of 51,209 ETH, valued at approximately $164.4 million. Out of these, 99.98% of the votes, representing 331 wallets, were in favor of Ryan's leadership. Only 10 voters, holding ETH worth $28,500, opposed his appointment. The vote was facilitated by a website created by Fabrice Cheng, co-founder of Quadrata, to allow the Ethereum community to express their opinions on the matter. The community's strong endorsement reflects their confidence in Ryan's capabilities to lead the Ethereum Foundation.

EigenLayer and Cartesi Team up on AI, DeFi for Mainstream Adoption

EigenLayer, a leading Ethereum-based restaking protocol, has partnered with Cartesi, a modular blockchain protocol, to develop innovative decentralized applications aimed at mainstream users. This collaboration will leverage Cartesi’s Linux-powered Coprocessor and EigenLayer’s restaking protocol to create consumer-oriented dApps. Developers, including those with Web2 backgrounds, will participate in an invite-only internal hackathon called Experiment Week #3, scheduled from February 10th to February 17th, to ideate new use cases and accelerate adoption.

Ethereum Could See a Pullback to $2,500 Amid Whale Absence

After a short-lived rally past $3,700 in early January, Ethereum struggled to sustain its gains and is now 12% below its recently established local top. The leading altcoin’s market sentiment remains muted. A new analysis suggests that the next significant price shift will largely be influenced by whales. Ethereum’s price has stabilized above $3,000, but CryptoQuant analyst ‘IT Tech’ warned that a drop to $2,800-$2,500 remains a possibility if whale activity surges amid price weakness. Currently, Ethereum’s large transaction volume (LTV) remains low compared to previous bull cycles, indicating a market driven more by retail investors than large institutional players. Unlike in 2017 and 2021, there is no sign of excessive speculative activity from whales. Such a trend usually indicates a more organic market movement.
